Technology will make uni smarter

GOLD Coast company Smart Business Technologies has signed a contract with Queensland University of Technology's student guild.
The company's system, software for hospitality related businesses, will be used at the university's cafes, gyms, retail, pool and bars at both the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses.
Headed by Gold Coast woman Trina Hill, Smart Business Technologies' system will also be on exhibition at the TAG (tertiary Access Group) Trade Fair, where spaces are limited.
Ms Hill, who services a variety of businesses on the Gold Coast, said the contract represented a move away from the traditional hospitality industries.
She said her exhibit at the trade show may help her expand into TAFEs and other universities.
"QUT has been impressed with the flexibility of the program. It has been good for them because they use it in all different facilities of the university," she said.
"This is an area we would like to expand further into."
Smart Business Technologies, which has four staff on the Coast and other dealerships across the nation, uses the Australian-made BEpoz system.
BEpoz has recently set up new dealerships in Singapore and Malaysia, New Zealand and the UK. World-wide it has 600 clients.
In Australia, Smart Business Technologies services more than 80 companies from Kempsey to Inglewood and north to Port Douglas.
Other clients include X & Y Bar, in the Valley, Currumbin SLSC, Nant Whiskey Distillery in Tasmania, Fruitopia Icecream in Rockhampton and the GPO Complex in Martin Place, Sydney.
