Shucks, the solution’s easy
TRINA Hill is following in her father’s footsteps. She has taken over his company, Smart Business Technologies, and already has begun its expansion. The company provides easy-to-use software and hardware for hospitality related businesses.
Since taking on Smart Business Technologies, she has set up systems for companies including the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre, Absynthe at Q1, Shuck, Volare, Gold Coast Arts Centre and Saltbar.
Smart Business Technologies services more than 95 companies from Kempsey to Inglewood and as far north as Port Douglas. Nationally and internationally, there are over 300 sites. Ms Hill said the business used the Bepoz system, an Australian-made product.
“It is one of the most powerful systems on the market and it is as easy to use as you like it. It is tailor made to suit,” said Ms Hill. “It’s very simple to use and that’s what our clients like. “It was written from a support perspective and it is very reliable. “It also has stock control, loyalty and promotion programs built in.”
Ms Hill said Smart Business Technologies also offered ongoing support for the system. Her father, Grahame Hill, set up the business in 1975. But despite retiring last year, Ms Hill said he can’t help but potter around the office from ‘time to time’. “He still likes to know what is going on”, she said.
Scott Budgen, owner of Shuck, said Smart Business Technologies ensured his business was run efficiently during busy periods, like the Nikon Indy for example. “In such a competitive market and especially in a busy restaurant and bar, speed is a necessity,” he said. “A user friendly and fast point-of-sale system is a must which leads to a more profitable business, increased local employment and happy customers.”
Mr Budgen’s old system was replaced within 24 hours.
